IIIT-Hyderabad is organizing a workshop on Robotics from 14th - 19th June
2010.
RoboCamp is a technical fest organized by the students of the IRC (IIIT-H
Robotics Club) on an annual basis to arouse interest in Robotics across
the length and breadth of our country, attracting students from all the
major engineering colleges of India.

It is a wonderful opportunity to get in touch with real engineering and to
develop technical skills. Apart from having fun, students from different
colleges around the country will find a common platform to exchange their
ideas thereby opening new doors of thought. This is a great chance to grab
everything from basic robotics to the latest advancements in this field.

The workshop introduces the basics of the following areas:

1) Basic Electronics in Robotics
2) Robot Building Techniques
3) Sensors and Control
4) Micro-controller Interface
5) Wireless Robot Control

Highlights of the Camp:

1. There will be lectures from eminent personalities in the industry and
in the research field of Robotics to create awareness amongst the
participants about the latest technologies.

2. Tutorials and Brain-storming sessions will be conducted by the students
pursuing B.tech and MS at IIIT-H allowing the beginners to learn the
basics of Robotic system development.

3. We provide the participants with the basic components to build a robot
(Ready-made kits are not provided as they hamper the innovativeness of a
student's mind and moreover we believe in building from scratch). We
assign a mentor to every group of 5 students to guide them as they
proceed.

4. We also provide lunch and snacks to the participants on all the six
days of the workshop.

4. Participants get hands-on experience in building robots and finally
they showcase their projects in the presence of the media on the last day.

5. Last but not the least every participating students will receive a
certificate of participation, and there are a lot of prizes to be won
during the workshop.

Lok Sabha Secretariat Internship Programme in  2010

Applications are invited in the prescribed format for five Internship Positions for a one-year Internship Programme in the Lok Sabha. The Internship Programme is aimed to provide an opportunity to young men and women with outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements to acquaint themselves with the working of parliamentary democracy and democratic institutions in general and specifically about the Indian parliamentary system.

The Programme also aims at imparting requisite skills and knowledge to enable the Interns to develop a proper perspective about the role of Legislature in the parliamentary system which, in turn, would help them while working in their own chosen fields in future.

Duration:
The duration of the Internship Programme will be one year, starting March 2010 and ending February 2011.

Eligibility:
Age: The Internship shall be open to Indian citizens between 21 and 28 years of age as on 31st December 2009.

Qualifications: The applicant should have completed a two-year Post-Graduate Degree from a recognised Indian or Foreign University with 55% marks in any of the areas/disciplines such as Social Sciences, Law, Journalism, Finance, Management, etc.

The applicant should submit a recommendation letter from the Principal of College/Head of the Institution he/she last attended or is enrolled in to pursue higher studies along with the completed application form. The applicant must also submit a brief statement in 250 words which should inter alia state why he/she intends to join the Internship Programme; his/her career goals; and how the Internship will help him/her in achieving those goals. The short listed applicants will be called to appear for an Interview.

Stipend and Other Facilities: The Interns will be paid a consolidated stipend of Rs. 18,000/- per month during the Internship period. In addition, a sum of Rs. 10,000/- shall be given as a one-time expenditure towards stationery and typing expenses. Expenses on accommodation, travelling, etc. shall be borne by the Interns themselves.

The selected Interns will have to sign a Memorandum of Undertaking and conditions attached thereto separately. The Lok Sabha Secretariat shall have all right to cancel the Internship awarded to any Intern, without stating any reason, during the course of the Programme at any point of time.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat shall issue a Certificate to the Interns on the successful completion of the Internship Programme.

The completed application in the enclosed format should reach the Additional Director, Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST), Lok Sabha Secretariat, Room No. F-077, ‘J’ Block, Parliament Library Building, New Delhi-110001, latest by 20th February 2010.

Last date :There is no limiting date for the application, the students will be taken as and when the vacancy and the preferred time of the student match but for the current year the applications should reach on or before April 19, 2010. Duration: Internship demands a full time commitment for two months. However, there will be sufficient flexibility regarding the timing of programmme. The student will be required to assist and discuss with the concerned faculty.

Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) is one of the earliest and largest premier inter-disciplinary research institutions working on social science research in India.
